How to Adopt an Animal from the RSPCA

If you would like to adopt an animal from the RSPCA you will need to have a Home Visit. Please contact us on 01609 776652 and leave a message giving your name, address and telephone number clearly so that we can return your call.

We contact everyone who wants to adopt. Home visits are essential to ensure that all of our animals go to caring people who are aware of the responsibilities, long-term commitment and costs associated with owning a pet.

To adopt an animal we do usually ask for a donation to cover some of the costs of:
Dog vaccination, neutering and microchipping
Cat vaccination, neutering and microchipping

All animals are checked by a vet. All cats & dogs are treated for fleas & worms.
By adopting from us you enter into an agreement that you will booster the animal on an annual basis. Cats and Dogs will also require regular worming and flea treatment.

Fosterers
We are desperate for people who might be able to look after animals in their own home for a short time while we undertake finding a new home for them. Unfortunately we are unable to accept dogs into local care as we have no volunteer fosterers to look after them. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a local fosterer.

Home Visitors

We are always looking for people to carry out the many home visits on potential adopters of our dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs. The home visitor goes into the home of a potential adopter, by appointment, to assess the home environment and family to ensure that we find the right homes for our animals. They always have the full backup of their coordinator and will be fully trained before being left to their own devices!
